Griefers: the dark side of gaming
His objective is simple: Make life hell for anyone unlucky enough to be playing with him. He’s a griefer.
A griefer is a player bent on purposely frustrating others during a multiplayer game. We found a griefer willing to shed some light on the dark side of gaming. He agreed to reveal some of his tricks on the condition that we keep his identity private.

There are no grief players, only players that grief.
in design terms it seems to boil down to whether one attempts to design grief out of a game (change people’s behaviour) or to discourage griefers (change the people).
